Released in 1990, Painkiller was the last Judas Priest album to feature Rob Halford on lead vocals, until his return in 2005, and was the band’s first with drummer Scott Travis. Painkiller found Judas Priest incorporating more of a speed metal sound than their previous couple of synthesizer laden glam rock style releases, leading it to become one of Judas Priest’s most successful albums and earning the band a 1991 Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance.
