Bob Seger Announces Farewell Tour

Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band will retire from the road after his Travelin' Man tour ends in 2019.

Bob Seger’s career has been rags to riches, to say the least. From high school gymnasiums to Michigan bars to theaters and then arenas, he's spent 56 years on the road. Now one of Detroit's most famous sons is taking his final road trip.

His final run with the Silver Bullet Band begins November 21 in Grand Rapids and will wind down in the summer of 2019 (dates are still being announced).

Seger has been talking about quitting the road since 1986 and most recently during his tours for 2006's Face The Promise and 2017's I Knew You When. "The big deciding factor for whether I leave or don't leave is my voice, whether it holds up...I just want to be graceful about it, you know what I mean? I don't want to stay too long, that's all.", he said in 2014. "I've had a great career. It's been a great run... I don't want to overstay my welcome."

At 73, Seger joins a long list of legendary artists on farewell tours this year that includes  Ozzy Osbourne, Paul Simon, Elton John, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Slayer.
