David Bowie Honored in Special Tribute a Year After Death
After David Bowie’s death grieved the world, Howard Stern decided that the deceased rock star should be properly remembered and honored. Stern asked Garbage, Billy Corgan, Car Seat Headrest, Greta Van Fleet, and 25 other artists to record David Bowie songs on his The Howard Stern Tribute to David Bowie Special. The tribute is premiering February 9th, 2018 on SiriusXM’s Howard 101 channel.
When Stern first got into rock and roll, he dove into the unique style of Bowie: “He was always evolving, he was always on top of things, he was just a great musician and a great songwriter and a great singer. I want to make sure people remember David Bowie.”
"David Bowie’s lasting influence on music, past, present, and future is absolutely phenomenal. He will be played a hundred years from now," said Tony Visconti, Bowie’s collaborator and producer. "I'm glad we can share these fantastic interpretations of his songs. The people who rose to the occasion for the Howard Stern tribute did an amazing job."
A few track sneak peeks have been exclusively released, including: Peter Frampton’s cover of “Rebel, Rebel,” Daryl Hall’s cover of “Fame,” and Lisa Loeb’s cover of “All The Young Dudes.”
These tracks will be a great treat for any David Bowie fans that appreciate a new, unique twist on his music. The fusion of Bowie’s original work and each artist’s musical taste makes for a refreshing, yet nostalgic memorial.
