FATS DOMINO - R.I.P.
Rock 'N Roll pioneer Antoine "Fats" Domino passed away today, October 25, 2017, from natural causes. He was 89. Fats is best known for a string of hits that charted from the mid-1950s through the early 1960s which include Ain't That a Shame and Blueberry Hill. These hits helped cement Fats' hometown of New Orleans, LA as a hotbed for the early evolution of Rock music. Fats' version of Blueberry Hill regained popularity, in the 1970s, in the TV series Happy Days, in which the Richie Cunningham character, played by Ron Howard, would sing the song as a reference to his latest love interest.
Fats is the best selling musician of the 1950s, after Elvis Presley, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 1986. Fats was a huge inspiration to many musicians, including Paul McCartney.
Our thoughts are with Fats' family and friends as they mourn this legend's passing.
