Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Releases 2019 Inductees
Tis the season for “Best of 2018” recaps. Everything from best rock songs, to most watched music videos, the end of every year calls for well-earned reminiscing, especially for rock and roll. And once we’re finished commemorating the magical musical moments of 2018, we have a new year of rock music and rock news in 2019 to look forward to, including the 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. So, who's on the list this year?
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2019 has been announced, and seven inductees are set to join the ranks: Def Leppard, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, The Cure, Roxy Music, and the Zombies.

The seven notorious rockers officially enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 29, 2019 at the induction ceremony in New York City. First time nominees, Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks, and Roxy Music are thrilled to receive the honor. Stevie Nicks is especially enthusiastic as she makes a significant mark in rock and roll history to be the first ever female double inductee. Nicks’ first induction in 1998 with band Fleetwood Mac was certainly an honor, but Nicks feels especially excited to accept this honor a second time as a female solo artist.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, she talks about what the second induction means to her and the precedent she hopes to set for women in rock and roll. “My biggest hope is that I have opened the door due to the fact that there’s 22 men who have gone in twice and zero women.” Nicks says she thinks these numbers are a little off balance. “I’m hoping, that what’s happened here to me will give all the little rock and roll stars that are just waiting out there a little hope that they can also do what I do. Mind you, it took a long time. I’m 70 years old.”
As for the fan votes for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, four of the five artists who topped that tally are getting inducted: Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks, The Zombies and The Cure. This year there seems to be a slight shift in voter taste, with The Cure and Def Leppard perhaps foreshadowing years to come of inductees whose 70s and 80s greatest hits glory days were significantly underappreciated.
Mark your calendars. Presented by Klipsch Audio, the 34th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is set to occur on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. If you’re looking to attend, tickets go on sale in January. If you can’t be there in person, the event will have its broadcast premiere on HBO and radio broadcast on SiriusXM.
