THE BIGGEST NAMES OF CLASSIC HARD ROCK & HEAVY METAL SET TO PERFORM AT NEW POWERTRIP FESTIVAL
There's a new music festival coming this October, and it definitely sounds like it's going to be sonic power trip. It's called the Powertrip Festival, and it's scheduled to take place at the Empire Polo Club, in Indio, California (home of the Coachella Music Festival), over the weekend of October 6-8, 2023.
Essentially an evolution of the Desert Festival which took place in 2016 and featured performances by some of the biggest names in early classic rock, including the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Roger Waters and The Who, the Powertrip Festival is going to be taking it up a notch with performances by Guns N' Roses, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Metallica and Tool.
This is the only confirmed show, by Ozzy Osbourne, who was forced to cancel his European and U.K. tours and announced that he was retiring from touring, due to the rigors of travel. He did say he was willing to do exclusive engagements as long as there was no significant travel involved, so as of now, he is scheduled to perform on Saturday, October 7.
The Powertrip Festival will also see the return of AC/DC to the stage since both the return of lead singer, Brian Johnson, who was forced to leave the band in 2016 for hearing loss and the passing of the band's co-founder and rhythm guitarist, Malcolm Young. Brian Johnson returned to AC/DC, in 2020, and they released the album, Power Up, however, the Powertrip Festival will be the band's first live show since Brian's return.
The schedule for the Powertrip Festival is as follows
FRIDAY - OCTOBER 6
- Guns N' Roses
- Iron Maiden
SATURDAY - OCTOBER 7
- AC/DC
- Ozzy Osbourne
SUNDAY - OCTOBER 8
- Metallica
- Tool
Tickets will be available for sale, starting on April 6, but you need to register on the Powertrip Festival's website, which will also have more information about the 3-day event.
