THE CURE TO TOUR NORTH AMERICA THIS SUMMER
As you may have heard, the Cure are headlining a tour of North America this summer.
Beginning on May 10, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, this tour, called The Lost World Tour, will find the band visiting a large number of major US and Canadian cities. The Lost World Tour will be the first that the new wave, goth, dark wave, alternative rock, post punk (whatever you'd like to refer to them as) band has performed in North America since 2019. Tickets went on sale today, March 15, and according to lead singer Robert Smith, there will be no dynamic ticket pricing for these shows.
While the Cure hasn't released a new album since 2008, the band was extremely active during the pandemic. They've written and recorded, according to Robert Smith, 20 new songs that could be released over 2 albums. Much has been hinted about new material, from the band, and they did perform some of these new tracks during their European tour last year, but to date, nothing has been officially released. According to guitarist Reeves Gabrels, "We were over productive, which is great, except it means you really can't judge the songs until you get them close to finished. You kinda have to bring all that material up to the point where you can hear what they are."
While Cure fans wait with baited breath to see the alt-rock legends live and these prospective albums to be available, Smith has indicated that these will be the last albums that the band will ever release saying, "The new Cure stuff is very emotional. It’s 10 years of life distilled into a couple of hours of intense stuff. I can’t think we’ll ever do anything else.”
